Metropolitan Carriers Pty Ltd was incorporated in Queensland in 1936 and operated as a Master Carrier in Brisbane, principally as a wool carrier.
In 1967 the owner Mr. Frank Vaughan sold the business to Mr Roy Russell. This acquisition complemented Roy's own transport business which he started in 1925.
In September 1991, Metropolitan Carriers Pty Ltd, trading as Metro-Lift Cranes, commenced crane operations with four (4) 12T Frannas and in the following year added two (2) Hydraulic slewing cranes. Since then, Metro-Lift has grown steadily.
Through its joint ownership with Russell Transport, Metro-Lift Crane Hire has been able to provide a total logistics solution for Crane Hire and Transportation.
Metro-Lift is owned by the Russell Family, which has been active in the transport industry for over 80 years. The Russell Family has seen three generations of family members progress through the business, with each member receiving valuable insight and experience from their predecessor, as well as commercial and technical experience from peers within and across industries.
